Fungi And Laboratory
Bees are of primary economic and ecological importance, particularly
through The greatest dangers to bees are Varroa mites

Insect pathogenic fungi are natural limiting factors of insect and mite populations. These fungi can be isolated from nature and cultivated in the laboratory.

Under special fermentation conditions, these fungi can be stimulated to form metabolic products with a very strong effect against insects and mites, which often act as pathog ens in plants, animals and humans

These substances have so far proven to be harmless to bees, plants, pets and humans, as well asbeing biodegradable, thus opening up the possibility of developing a new generation of pesticides
Goals And Next Steps
The primary aim is to produce environmentally friendly plant protection products and veterinary medicinal products for the production of healthy food while at the same time protecting the environment. Insects and mites are also often pathogens in humans. T his also opens up human medicine as an area of application for these active ingredients.

Effective Fungi
We have already identified a substance in the active culture media of the fungi which is effective against varroa mites. The next steps are to transfer the production to pilot and industrial scale and to identify further active substances.
